My hope is to use this site as a place to exchange information about treatment strategies for Multiple Sclerosis. The site is run by Aaron Askanase, an acupuncturist and healer who was diagnosed with MS in 1996. Many people have approached me asking about my perspective on MS and acupuncture, and so I've set up this page to share the information that I've collected.

If you have thoughts, comments, or experiences treating people with MS, please write to me and let me know - I am always looking for new information and insights into the treatment and management of MS.

One of the best theories I have seen regarding MS from an OM perspective is cold invading the Du mai. Any techniques that you can use to clear cold from the Du such as chasing the wind, or releasing GV 20 will be very helpful.

Below are my notes on several different OM textbooks that talk about MS. If you know of other sources that mention MS and OM, please let me know.

Aaron's Notes on MS chapter from The Treatment of Modern Western Diseases with Chinese Medicine by Bob Flaws and Philippe Sionneau

Aaron's notes on Giovanni Maciocia's article on MS in his book The Practice of Chinese Medicine.

Bibliography of Aticles on MS and Oriental Medicine

Annotated Bibiliography - a paper I wrote for a class in Acupuncture school (not my best work). (MS Word Format)

http://www.ms-cam.org - If you haven't already looked at it, please check out the Rocky Mountain MS Center's MS and Complimentary medicine site. You can find results there of a large survey on the results of acupuncture on people with MS.
